Program Notes

This piece is a meditation on falling flowers. The "white flower meditation" is a meditation from my spiritual path, where one visualizes white flowers of peace falling all over the earth, while repeating the following mantras:

Om Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu (May all beings everywhere be happy)

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti (Om peace, peace, peace)

The piece shows these flowers from different perspectives: first one flower, caught in the breeze, and eventually a chaotic sky full of flowers, jostling one another. Finally, I try to find the source of the flowers, up through and past earth's atmosphere, into space.

In my imagination, this piece is written for a hybrid offspring of the violin, violin combined with wine glasses and wooden planks.
